BAFTA Announces 2025 Games Awards Nominees

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) has revealed the nominees for the 2025 Games Awards, featuring 17 competitive categories. Eligible games were released between Nov. 25, 2023, and Nov. 15, 2024, with the winners set to be announced on April 8, 2025.

Nominees were chosen from a longlist of 58 titles, narrowed down from 247 submissions reviewed by BAFTA’s 1,300 members. The Best Game category includes Black Myth: Astro Bot, Balatro, Wukong, Helldivers 2, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Thank Goodness You’re Here!.

Other key nominees:

  • Game Design: Animal Well, Astro Bot, Balatro, Helldivers 2, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Tactical Breach Wizards.

  • Animation: Astro Bot, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, LEGO Horizon Adventures, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade, Thank Goodness You’re Here!, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.

  • Multiplayer: Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Helldivers 2, LEGO Horizon Adventures, Super Mario Party Jamboree, TEKKEN 8, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.

  • Narrative: Black Myth: Wukong, Dragon Age: Theilguar, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade, Still Wakes the Deep.

  • Technical Achievement: Astro Bot, Black Myth: Wukong, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade, Tiny Glade, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2.

BAFTA clarifies that remasters of older games are ineligible, while full remakes can compete in craft categories. DLC is only considered in Evolving Game and select craft categories.

The awards ceremony will take place on April 8, 2025.
