Ubisoft is bringing Champions Tactics Reforged, its competitive turn-based RPG, to Steam on May 19 as a web2 free-to-play title. Designed for players who prefer traditional gameplay, this version excludes blockchain features and NFTs found in its web3 predecessor, Grimoria Chronicles.
Players start with a small roster of champions and engage in strategic 3v3 PvP battles, collecting characters and using resources like Bloodstones to expand and customize their teams. While the game includes in-app purchases, Ubisoft emphasizes “tactical play to win,” with outcomes driven by strategy rather than spending.
Steam users will need to link Ubisoft Connect accounts, and the game supports Easy Anti-Cheat, achievements, and trading cards. The Steam release also marks the beginning of Season 4, although full details have yet to be revealed.
This move reflects Ubisoft’s effort to reach broader audiences by offering both web3 and traditional versions of its games.
