EVE Frontier Opens to Public with 10-Day Free Trial

CCP Games, creators of the iconic Eve Online, has announced a 10-day free trial for its upcoming spinoff, Eve Frontier. Running from April 11 to April 21, the trial opens the doors of the game to the public for the first time—no Founders Access pass required.

Until now, only early supporters who purchased passes priced between $30 and $90 were allowed in. The trial marks a key step toward broader access as the game inches closer to full release.

Survival at the Core

Set in a harsh, ever-hostile universe, Eve Frontier blends survival mechanics with a player-driven economy. CCP CEO Hilmar Veigar Pétursson describes the game world as “inherently dangerous,” with survival as the core gameplay loop.

Built on blockchain technology, Frontier also experiments with digital asset ownership and economic systems—though CCP has remained measured in how heavily blockchain impacts gameplay.

Trial and Testing Phase Aligned

The free trial kicks off alongside the game’s third testing phase, a 60-day period during which new gameplay and economic features are introduced. While trial players won’t receive Founders perks, they’ll have access to the full core experience and any new content released during this phase.

Economy in Expert Hands

In preparation for launch, CCP has brought on a former Central Bank of Iceland economist to oversee Frontier’s in-game economy—a sign of the studio’s ambition to build a robust, player-influenced market system.

What Comes Next?

A full launch date hasn’t been revealed, but Eve Frontier is gaining momentum. This trial offers longtime fans and curious newcomers a chance to explore CCP’s latest vision—combining the legacy of Eve Online with the innovations of blockchain gaming.
