CCP Games, the studio behind the iconic EVE Online, has announced that its upcoming space survival MMO, EVE Frontier, will be built on the Sui blockchain. The move aims to deliver a massive, player-driven universe powered by scalable, on-chain technology.
Sui’s object-centric architecture and sub-second transaction finality will allow EVE Frontier to host billions of assets and interactions across thousands of star systems. Players will be able to build, trade, and explore in a world that evolves entirely through community action — echoing the emergent gameplay that made EVE Online a cult phenomenon.
CCP is working with Mysten Labs, the creators of Sui, to integrate decentralized tools like Walrus for data reliability and Seal for secure access control. These systems will give players more strategic depth, letting them use information and intelligence as key gameplay elements.
A new feature called Smart Assemblies will allow players and developers to safely create and deploy programmable structures in the game’s universe. Everything built will persist on-chain, ensuring that every ship, station, and artifact remains part of the shared history.
“With EVE Frontier, we’re building a player-modifiable universe that can outlive its creators,” said Hilmar Veigar Pétursson, CEO of CCP Games. “Sui’s architecture perfectly matches our vision for scale, security, and player freedom.”
Currently in its Founder Access phase, EVE Frontier is being ported to Sui with support for blockchain-native features like zkLogin and Sponsored Transactions, designed to make onboarding seamless.
With EVE Frontier, CCP Games is once again pushing the boundaries of online worlds — blending deep player agency with cutting-edge blockchain tech to create a universe that truly belongs to its players.
