FIFA, the world’s leading football organization, is stepping into the future of digital engagement with the launch of its own blockchain, built on Avalanche. This new Layer 1 (L1) network marks a major milestone in FIFA’s Web3 strategy, aiming to enhance fan experiences through digital collectibles and seamless global connectivity.
The FIFA Blockchain is designed for scalability, speed, and interoperability, offering fans around the world a secure and immersive way to interact with the sport. The first major initiative on the new network will be the migration of FIFA Collect, FIFA’s official digital collectibles platform.
Avalanche was chosen for its high performance, low latency, and EVM compatibility—key factors for supporting millions of users during high-traffic events like the World Cup. Development is being led by Modex, a long-term FIFA partner known for its Web3 infrastructure expertise.
“By selecting Avalanche, FIFA is building a future-proof foundation for digital fan engagement,” said Francesco Abbate, CEO of Modex. More digital innovations are expected in the future, although details remain under wraps.
This move not only solidifies Avalanche’s role as a leader in blockchain infrastructure but also sets a new benchmark for how legacy institutions can adopt Web3 technology to reach billions of users worldwide.
