Moonray: Battle Lands Closed Beta Now Live on Steam

Moonray: Battle Lands, the free-to-play third-person PvP arena brawler, officially launched its closed beta on Steam on Saturday, May 10. This new version brings a wave of improvements, including reimagined Heroes, smoother combat, new maps, and full controller support—marking a major step forward for the game.

What’s New in the Beta

The closed beta introduces two new Heroes—Zol Jei and Getz’l Nok—each with their own unique weapons: a heavy-hitting hammer and a support-focused healing blaster. Existing Heroes have been reworked, likely with new balancing and animations that enhance the overall gameplay experience.

On the technical side, major backend upgrades, including Mover 2.0 and Motion Matching, aim to make movement and combat more fluid and responsive. Players will also find a brand-new battle pass, Path of Trial, offering unlockable cosmetics and rewards, alongside new arenas to fight in. Full controller support has been added as well.

How to Join the Beta

To participate in the Steam closed beta, players must apply through a sign-up form, which is expected to be released soon. Access will be limited, so fans are encouraged to keep an eye on Moonray’s official social media accounts for the announcement. In the meantime, you can wishlist the game on Steam to stay in the loop.

An AMA with the development team is scheduled for Thursday, May 15 at 10 AM CST on the official Discord server. This will be a great opportunity to hear from the team directly and learn more about what’s coming next.

What’s Ahead for Moonray

Moonray blends skill-based melee combat with sci-fantasy visuals across multiple PvP modes, including Duel (1v1), Team Deathmatch (4v4), and Free-for-All. While the Steam version won’t include web3 features, the blockchain-enabled edition is already live on the Epic Games Store, offering optional NFT cosmetics—no wallet required.

Looking forward, the developers plan to bring Moonray to PlayStation 5 in 2025, with an Xbox Series X release expected later this year. Backed by a $10 million funding round, the game is poised for continued growth across multiple platforms.
