SK hynix has finalized its $9 billion acquisition of Intel’s NAND memory business, completing the deal with a final $1.9 billion payment. This marks the second and final phase of the transaction, which began in 2021, officially transferring Intel’s NAND IP, technology, and employees to SK hynix.
With the acquisition, Solidigm, an SK hynix subsidiary, will now oversee the former Intel SSD business, strengthening collaboration on future NAND products.
NAND flash memory, a key component in SSDs, smartphones, and USB drives, is a crucial part of the storage industry. SK hynix, the world’s second-largest memory chip maker, continues to expand its presence in this sector following the completion of the Intel deal.
