Directive Games has officially transitioned its 4X strategy MMO, Civitas, to the Immutable zkEVM blockchain. This move is set to enhance scalability, reduce gas fees, and improve accessibility for players through seamless integration with Immutable Passport.
The migration from Ethereum Layer 1 to Immutable’s Layer 2 solution brings a more efficient gaming environment, allowing for gas-free gameplay and easier onboarding for new users. Players can now enjoy faster transactions without the complexity of blockchain management, aligning with the studio’s vision of a more inclusive and community-driven web3 experience.
Importantly, existing holders of the Chosen of Civitas NFT collection won’t need to move their assets. While the NFTs remain on Ethereum, they’ll be fully interoperable with the new Immutable zkEVM-based infrastructure, preserving their functionality in-game.
Directive Games plans to share more technical details and upcoming content through social channels and an AMA on June 26. This migration follows recent updates to the studio’s other title, The Machines Arena, showing its active role in shaping the web3 gaming landscape.
