Shrapnel’s Developer Neon Machine Names New CEO

Neon Machine, the developer behind the blockchain-based FPS Shrapnel, has announced a leadership change as it gears up for the game’s full launch in 2025. Xbox veteran Ken Rosman has been named CEO, taking over from co-founder Mark Long, who will now serve in an advisory role.

Rosman brings over 30 years of industry experience, including work on Halo Wars and Sunset Overdrive at Microsoft’s Xbox division. He will focus on key areas like live-ops, player retention, feature development, and partnerships to ensure Shrapnel’s success. Meanwhile, Mark Long noted that this transition comes as the project shifts from building to execution in its final stages of development.

The studio also announced plans for a 2025 fundraising round, backed by the Blizzard Avalanche Ecosystem Fund along with Griffin Gaming Partners and Polychain Capital.

What is Shrapnel?

Shrapnel is a first-person extraction shooter set in a futuristic Japanese city. Currently in an early greybox development stage, it features limited weapons, a single operator, and unfinished maps with placeholder designs. Neon Machine has opened this early version to players, prioritizing community feedback to refine the gameplay and shape the final product.

This hands-on development approach, combined with new leadership, positions Neon Machine to deliver a polished and engaging experience when Shrapnel launches.
