The Sandbox Foundation has unveiled SANDchain, a new Layer 2 blockchain for creators, alongside a partnership with web3 infrastructure company Sequence. The collaboration introduces SANDchain Builder, a platform designed to help developers and brands build, launch, and scale onchain experiences with ease.
Evolving from its origins as a mobile game in 2012, The Sandbox has grown into a global metaverse with over 8 million registered users, 25,000 LAND owners, and more than 700,000 user-created experiences. Its roster of partners includes cultural icons like Gucci, Adidas, Snoop Dogg, and Warner Music Group.
Built on ZKSync’s ZK Atlas and Caldera infrastructure, SANDchain combines Ethereum-grade security with scalability — processing over 15,000 transactions per second at minimal cost. As the new home of the $SAND token, it aims to unify The Sandbox’s economy while empowering creators with faster, cheaper, and more flexible tools.
Through SANDchain Builder, Sequence provides features such as gasless transactions, branded wallets, NFT APIs, and real-time blockchain data, making blockchain development more accessible than ever.
