SHRAPNEL, the AAA Web3 shooter from NeonMachine, has become the first foreign game licensed on China’s Real World Asset (RWA) blockchain infrastructure. This milestone partnership was formalized at the “Web3.0 Games and International Digital Copyright Cooperation” seminar, where Chinese officials expressed support for the game’s entry into the country’s digital rights ecosystem.
A Major Web3 Gaming Milestone
SHRAPNEL’s partnership with China’s Trusted Copyright Chain allows the game’s digital assets—including characters, props, and collectibles—to be registered, verified, and traded in compliance with Chinese copyright law. This makes SHRAPNEL the first overseas game authorized to issue and trade digital assets on China’s blockchain, ushering in a new era of “Digital Rights + Esports.” Collectible avatars and derivative assets are also planned.
Cultural and Market Collaboration
China’s Lingjing People’s Game Labs has begun discussions with SHRAPNEL to explore asset localization, distribution, and market integration. The collaboration will support compliant issuance and help build sustainable Web3 gaming ecosystems in China. Initial outcomes are expected in 2025.
Setting Global Standards for Digital Rights
Xuan Hongliang, Director of the Trusted Copyright Chain, called this partnership China’s first global export of a digital asset rights solution, paving the way for international content to enter China’s digital economy and Chinese content to go global.
Legacy and Innovation
SHRAPNEL, developed by a team from HBO, Halo, Assassin’s Creed, and Star Wars, combines AAA-quality gameplay with blockchain-driven player creation and asset ownership. NeonMachine CEO Ken Rosman called the deal a “milestone” unlocking global potential and a “precedent for decentralized models to scale internationally.”
The Future of Gaming
The SHRAPNEL-China partnership is a powerful example of international cooperation in digital rights, poised to reshape the global gaming landscape.
